Medicare: Where to Start and What’s Next?

Medicare is an essential coverage program for those turning 65. The challenge is navigating the complexities of the program to ensure the choices you make are tailored exactly to your needs. After all, these decisions do have an impact on your wallet and health. Being prepared at enrollment time can really simplify the process.

Common Questions We Hear Include:

  • How and when do I sign up for Medicare?
  • How much will Medicare cost?
  • Does Medicare cover dental and preventive care?
  • What happens if I don’t sign up for Medicare when I’m eligible?
  • How does Medicare effect my HSA (Health Savings Account)?
  • How does the size of my employer effect if I need Medicare?
  • What are the differences between Medicare Part A, B, C, and D?

The good news is that this process doesn’t have to be daunting. At Clark, we have agents focused solely on Medicare and specifically trained to understand each plan, its intricate coverages and costs, and why certain people are a better fit for certain options.

Just a 15 minute phone call can start you off on the right track by dispelling any worry, laying out the options, and establishing a relationship with a real person that has the right information and is always responsive.

A Good Place to Start

One of the first conversations we often have is around the different Parts of a Medicare plan and what they are for. Here’s a simple breakdown:

Part A: This is for costs related to Hospitals. Inpatient care in a hospital or ER, Skilled nursing facility care, and Hospice care are all examples of what is covered under Part A.

Part B: This covers costs related to doctor visits. Any outpatient services (blood tests or X-rays), surgery, or use of medical equipment are all included here.

Part C: This represents a different Medicare option altogether. Part C is a health coverage option offered by private companies, approved and under contract with Medicare that combines Part A, Part B, and Part D.

Part D: This is coverage for your prescriptions.

Understanding your coverage options and knowing what they mean is a big step in the Medicare process. You’re already on your way! We’re here, ready for the next step.
